April 25, 2021I so very rarely write negative reviews. This would be a first for a hotsprings in colorado. I love my state because we have all these hotsprings. I love how rustic most of them are. I do not expect super clean or posh for $20. I just want to soak. But the customer service at this place leaves me sad and frustrated. I took my group up to Grandby. We decided at 10:15pm Saturday night to book a space at the Sulphur Hot springs for Sunday. They wanted to go at noon. When I pulled up the website on my phone, there were no instructions on how to book but it looked like there were two noon time slots on the menu. (now that I look on their website on laptop, the view is different). I went to book noon and only 2 spots looked available at that time. I thought to myself that maybe I could only book 2 people at a time since there were two time slots for noon. This is how it works with a lot of other venues during Covid. Turns out there were only 2 spots left at noon and we have four. I was silly not to do more due diligence, but I figured if I booked us in a 10a, I would call first thing Sun morning and they were understand that I had made a mistake.

The facility sits in a beautiful location, a mountain valley surrounded by snow covered peaks and a winter landscape at its finest. Unfortunately, the serenity is lost once you enter the pools. The locker rooms are average, clean enough, but the cashier could be trained to provide details that the lockers are operated with quarters to save the trip back down the stairs. The pools are hottest at the highest elevations but on average are at least 2-3 degrees colder than the signs indicate. The pools are filled with algae and in disparate need of basic maintenance and new filters as the floaters detract from the experience. Well, no. As kind as I was, they just kept saying to me, "There is not way we can refund you due to our policy of not issuing refunds after 12 hours. " This is not how to make customers happy! This is not how to treat people who make silly mistakes and who are ACTUALLY paying customers. It's not like I was canceling, I was just trying to right a mistake that I made. So, no, I do not recommend. The hotsprings themselves were okay. They were quite dirty with lots of hair floating around. Most of the tubs were full of people by the time we got in and so we couldn't move to other pools. Covid is weird. I get that. But if you are at a hotsprings, you might consider that other people want to get into the pool that you are in. Either that, or design the pools so that you have more than one hot pool that is big enough for more people. My advice, get there early and scramble to a pool at the top that is hot. …
