Absolutely, dudes. Befitting its title, "Wonderful Ass" might be the most purely satisfying of the vault tracks: a chipper, silly funk-strut duet between Prince and Lisa Coleman, who were at the time dating the twin Melvoin sisters (both of whom shared the titular attribute, according to Coleman). The bandmates rap-rhyme "educate, " "negotiate, " "communicate, " "litigate, " "interrogate" and "masturbate" because, well, that's what they do. "Velvet Kitty Kat" sounds like a solo Prince demo: lo-fi, slightly muffled, with a basic drum track and simple guitar. Its charm is its brevity and DIY simplicity, a rarity for Prince at this stage. "Katrina's Paper Dolls, " meanwhile, is something of a mystery, sketching a story of a lonely girl who stays home and makes her own company, literally. It might be about Prince's protégée Vanity (real name Denise Katrina Matthews) of Vanity 6. Or it might just be an interesting metaphor for a guy who made his own company similarly, by shaping artists like Vanity.

A lot or a little? The parents' guide to what's in this movie. Personal suffering inspires art. Collaboration and sharing of artistic work inspires great works. Positive Role Models & Representations A man beats his wife and hits his son. A woman skips out on her taxi fare. A striving young artist tries to defend his mother against his father's violent abuse, then abuses his own girlfriend. He dedicates a song to his father, seemingly forgiving the man despite his domestic abuse. He denigrates music written by his bandmates, refusing to feature it in the band's performances in favor of his own compositions. When he learns to collaborate, he becomes a better performer and artist. The misogyny that is widespread in hip-hop music is shown to have precursors in funk, R&B, and rock and roll of the 1980s. A man hits his wife. The wife loyally stays by his side after an off-screen suicide attempt. Imitating his father, the Kid strikes his own girlfriend. A man tosses a woman in a garbage dumpster.

Opening with finger cymbals and what sounds like an oud, the outrageous "We Can Fuck" gets straight to the point, then makes it for 10 minutes, putting a Middle Eastern spin on his sexual revolution over a slow funk jam as X-rated as any official Prince release to date. It's followed by "Father's Song, " the piano meditation written, or in any case co-written, by Prince's dad, John Nelson. A fragment appeared in semi-autobiographical context in the film Purple Rain, and its melody was used as the main motif of "Computer Blue"'s back end. Here, the piano melody is teased out and ghosted with synth, becoming an easy-listening psychedelic coda to this scrapbook culled from what may stand as Prince's hottest streak. The Deluxe Expanded set includes a DVD of a 1985 Syracuse show that's circulated in bootleg bits on YouTube for a while, as well as the Single Edits & B-Sides disc. The latter gathers worthy flipsides, including the two-cigarettes-and-a-broken-heart anthem "17 Days" (Prince's second-best lyrical application of the word "rain"); the bizarre steam-kettle space-gospel ballad "God"; the aching, banana daiquiri-soused lover's requiem "Another Lonely Christmas"; and the mighty seven-minute "Make Love Not War Erotic City Come Alive" mix of "Erotic City" – which reminds us that, as long as we are alive, "We can funk until the dawn, " which is good advice always.

She has magic hands, and was lovely to spend the morning with. Had a tasty lunch and left feeling pampered and relaxed. I will be back! My mom and I came in for pedicures together and loved the experience. The owner is friendly. She goes the extra mile to ensure cleanliness. The service was great – we loved our pedicures (especially the paraffin wax). The space is beautifully decorated. We both would go back. I've been going to Lorraine for just over 3 months now and my skin has improved tremendously. I have less acne outbreaks and my pores are no longer constantly clogged. She is very knowledgable and chose a facial treatment that best suited and benefited my skin type. I would highly recommend Lorraine and the Purple Rain Spa.

Synopsis Storyline: A young man with a talent for music has begun a career with much promise. He meets an aspiring singer, Apollonia, and finds that talent alone isn't all that he needs. A complicated tale of his repeating his father's self destructive behavior, losing Apollonia to another singer (Morris Day), and his coming to grips with his own connection to other people ensues. Written by John Vogel < [email protected] > User Reviews: A much undervalued film that tells the story of a young musician caught in an ever-declining spiral of domestic violence. At times difficult to watch, while Morris Day is portrayed as the misogynist, Prince as the knight on (motorcycle) steed, he is still called upon to twice beat a woman as part of the screenplay. That he can do this and still emerge as a flawed but vindicated hero is credit to the writing. Prince is so free of ego in this film that not only does he portray himself as a narcissistic megalomaniac who beats women, but his most famous song is fictionalised as being written by his father and Wendy & Lisa.

Reviewed in the United States on February 22, 2020 Verified Purchase Immortals should be duly immortalized, and thanks to "Purple Rain, " we can witness Prince being captured at one of his many creative zeniths, and perhaps the one that stands as his most culturally enduring. Paradoxically, "Purple Rain" is a near-perfect movie due largely to its imperfections. First-time viewers note its 80s sheen and a contrived artifice to the acting that eschews realism for an over-stylization true to its day. Sure enough, but these constructs also serve as the delivery mechanism for its searing, electrically-charged musical performances -- the likes of which film has rarely seen -- showcasing a now-legendary arsenal of song work packaged on the film's timeless soundtrack. For fans of the intersection where film and music meet on equal footing, "Purple Rain" is as much essential viewing as it is essential listening.
